{"id":531588,"date":"2021-10-23T19:17:05","date_gmt":"2021-10-23T17:17:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=531588"},"modified":"2021-10-23T19:17:05","modified_gmt":"2021-10-23T17:17:05","slug":"eskom-announces-stage-2-load-shedding-here-is-the-schedule-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/531588\/eskom-announces-stage-2-load-shedding-here-is-the-schedule-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Eskom announces stage 2 load shedding \u2013 here is the schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Power utility Eskom says it will implement stage 2 load shedding at 21:00 on Saturday evening (23 October) until 05:00 on Monday, in order to replenish emergency generation reserves for the week ahead.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes only weeks after a prolonged period of load shedding due to a number of repairs at its power stations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis load-shedding has been caused by breakdowns, numerous trips at various power stations, as well as delays in returning units to service,\u201d Eskom stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has required us to rely heavily on emergency generation reserves, which are now at very low levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To ensure adequate reserves for the week ahead, Eskom said that it is necessary to preserve the remaining emergency reserves and to replenish as much as possible before Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past week there have been multiple breakdowns and trips, including those at Tutuka, Kriel, Hendrina, Kusile, Arnot and Kendal power stations,\u201d said Eskom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile some of these units have already returned to service, this has required us to utilise extensive emergency generation reserves to supplement capacity during the week.
