Telkom has extended an invitation to industry to bid for the provisioning of Video on Demand (VoD) services.<\/p>\n
In January,\u00a0Telkom<\/a>\u00a0CEO\u00a0Sipho Maseko<\/a>\u00a0said that, by 2015, the company aims to provide uncapped internet, voice services and video-on-demand to its customers under one product, at a flat rate.<\/p>\n It was reported that Maseko held talks with a host of large media companies – including Comcast, Bertelsmann, Naspers, and Netflix – to carry content on Telkom\u2019s fixed-line networks as part of an effort to boost revenue.<\/p>\n On Monday (24\u00a0February), MD of consumer services and retail marketing, Manelisa Mavuso, said: \u201cWe have been progressing well with our efforts to deliver the ultimate connected home experience to South Africans.”<\/p>\n “We believe that content has a major role to play in truly differentiating the Telkom offer and we are steaming ahead to deliver this to our customers as soon as possible.”<\/p>\n \u201cIt therefore gives me great pleasure to invite relevant stakeholders to submit their proposals through Telkom\u2019s tender process as we seek to find the best service provider to partner with.”<\/p>\n A tender notice was published on 20 February on www.telkom.co.za.
