Free-to-air digital satellite platform, OpenView HD, is also set to launch a channel dedicated to broadcasting the Oscar Pistorius trial live on Monday, 3 March 2014.<\/p>\n
It follows an announcement by\u00a0DStv, in late January, that it would launch a 24-hour channel dedicated to the murder trial of the paralympian.<\/p>\n
Pistorius is accused of murdering his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on February 14 last year. His trial is set to be heard in the High Court in Pretoria from March 3 to 20.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday (25 February), the High Court in Pretoria granted media houses permission\u00a0 to televise parts of the murder trial.\u00a0The athlete\u2019s testimony will not be broadcast.<\/p>\n
Trial TV: The State vs Oscar Pistorius, which will run on OpenView HD Channel 119, will offer viewers live court proceedings from 10AM-4PM. Court proceedings will be repeated on the channel throughout the schedule.<\/p>\n
MD of Platco Digital, Maxwell Nonge said: “The decision to provide our viewers access to information of public interest is in line with our commitment to afford OpenView HD viewers with as broad a range of programing as we have at our disposal.\u201d<\/p>\n
