{"id":538562,"date":"2021-11-17T10:08:19","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T08:08:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=538562"},"modified":"2021-11-17T15:56:58","modified_gmt":"2021-11-17T13:56:58","slug":"eskom-moves-to-stage-2-load-shedding-for-the-rest-of-the-week-here-is-the-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/538562\/eskom-moves-to-stage-2-load-shedding-for-the-rest-of-the-week-here-is-the-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"Eskom moves to stage 2 load shedding for the rest of the week &#8211; here is the schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eskom has announced that stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from 14h00 on Wednesday (17 November) until 05h00 on Saturday (20 November).<\/p>\n<p>The power utility said the outages are <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">due to the ongoing insufficient generation <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">capacity and the loss of a unit each at Medupi, Duvha and Kendal power stations this <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8220;Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from 14h00 today until 05h00 on Saturday <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">20 November. This is to preserve the remaining emergency reserves at the OCGT and pump <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">storage power stations in order to prevent higher stages of load shedding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8220;Of the five units that failed yesterday, a unit at Majuba, Kriel and Matimba power stations <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">have returned to service while the remaining two units are undergoing boiler tube leak <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">repairs.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Total breakdowns currently amount to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">15,485MW while planned maintenance is 4,100MW of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">capacity. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8220;Eskom would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the implementation of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">load shedding, and requests the public to reduce the usage of electricity in order to help us <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">through the constraints. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Eskom will communicate promptly should there be any significant changes to the power <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\"
