Apple Inc said Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer would retire at the end of September.<\/p>\n
Luca Maestri, Apple’s vice president of finance and corporate controller, will succeed Oppenheimer as CFO, reporting to Chief Executive Tim Cook.<\/p>\n
Oppenheimer, who has been CFO since 2004, was named to the board of Goldman Sachs Group Inc on Monday.<\/p>\n
Before moving to Apple, Maestri previously worked at General Motors, and spent 20 years in finance and operating roles in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, Apple said.<\/p>\n
While at GM, Maestri had many significant assignments building and operating the business.<\/p>\n
He was part of the team that established GM\u2019s regional operations in Asia Pacific, including manufacturing investments in China and Thailand.<\/p>\n
Maestri was later CFO of the team that restructured operations in Brazil and Argentina and returned the region to profitability.<\/p>\n
His last role at GM was CFO for all of GM\u2019s operations in Europe, which spanned over 45 countries with annual net revenue of approximately $40 billion.<\/p>\n
