South Africa’s major supermarkets have all announced their shopping deals ahead of Black Friday 2021, which falls on Friday, 26 November.<\/p>\n

Unlike previous years, many retailers have opted to offer deals for several weeks – or throughout the whole month of November – giving shoppers more time to peruse and avoid queues and crowding during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

There has also been a notable shift from ‘big-ticket items’ such as televisions and appliances, with many retailers offering deals on daily necessities such as food and cleaning products.<\/p>\n

Checkers said that its Black Friday sale will run from Thursday (25 November) until Sunday (28 November), with up to 50% off select items.<\/p>\n

“In response to Covid-19, deals will again this year be valid for four days to give customers more time to plan and shop, and to prevent overcrowding. Rather than running an extended promotion with limited savings, the four days of concentrated Black Friday deals mean Shoprite and Checkers are staying true to the ethos of this promotion – deep discounts”.<\/p>\n

The group is also leaning heavily on its new Xtra Savings programme, with extra savings available to cardmembers. Alongside groceries, Checkers said it will also be offering deals on liquor, appliances, tech and healthcare.<\/p>\n
