{"id":55595,"date":"2014-04-11T10:07:34","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T08:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=55595"},"modified":"2014-04-11T10:31:07","modified_gmt":"2014-04-11T08:31:07","slug":"sabc-journalists-fear-nia-phone-tapping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/55595\/sabc-journalists-fear-nia-phone-tapping\/","title":{"rendered":"SABC journalists fear NIA phone tapping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SABC journalists fear their phones are being tapped by the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Mail &amp; Guardian reported on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>President of the Broadcasting, Electronics, Media, and Allied Workers&#8217; Union Hannes du Buisson told the paper the union had received a complaint that SABC board chairwoman Zandile Tshabala had told staff to be careful who they spoke to as their phones were being monitored.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If this is true, we would be very concerned as it would be illegal to do so,&#8221; Du Buisson was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Five editorial staff independently confirmed the details of the January meeting to the weekly paper.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Basically, she was saying that we must toe the line&#8230; and that we must respect the ruling party.
