{"id":55979,"date":"2014-04-22T11:50:04","date_gmt":"2014-04-22T09:50:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=55979"},"modified":"2014-04-22T11:50:04","modified_gmt":"2014-04-22T09:50:04","slug":"sabc-blocks-eff-ad-over-call-to-destroy-e-tolls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/55979\/sabc-blocks-eff-ad-over-call-to-destroy-e-tolls\/","title":{"rendered":"SABC blocks EFF ad over call to destroy e-tolls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A political advertisement from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) will not be aired by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), a spokesperson for the public broadcaster has told MyBroadband.<\/p>\n<p>However, the SABC said it doesn\u2019t \u201cban\u201d anything.<\/p>\n<p>According to the broadcaster, it simply rejected the EFF\u2019s advertisement over the inclusion of the statement, \u201cDESTROY E-TOLLS PHYSICALLY!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement is an incitement to criminal activity, the SABC said.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gWfdU7xr-tA\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The SABC spokesperson said that, unlike the Democratic Alliance advertisement, which was a matter of interpretation, the EFF\u2019s ad is \u201cvery blatant\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t try to explain it differently,\u201d the SABC said.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the rejection of its ad, the EFF took to Twitter on Monday, 21 April 2014 and said that the SABC had banned its ad because of E-tolls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve touched us on the wrong side. We\u2019r [sic] going for them,\u201d the EFF posted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SABC has started a war it can\u2019t win, eTolls are not in popular demand.
