{"id":56207,"date":"2014-04-24T11:01:25","date_gmt":"2014-04-24T09:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=56207"},"modified":"2014-04-24T11:01:25","modified_gmt":"2014-04-24T09:01:25","slug":"icasa-to-hear-saps-complaint-over-da-advert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/56207\/icasa-to-hear-saps-complaint-over-da-advert\/","title":{"rendered":"Icasa to hear SAPS complaint over DA advert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) is set to hear a complaint by the SA Police Services against the DA&#8217;s election advert on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The SAPS said in their complaint that the television advert would incite violence against the police,&#8221; said Icasa spokesman Paseka Maleka.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The police said the part of the advert where the Democratic Alliance&#8217;s [Gauteng premier candidate] Mmusi Maimane says &#8220;..the police are killing our people..&#8221; and shows a policeman shooting at a person, would invite violent acts against the members of the SAPS.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The advert was previously banned by public broadcaster SABC after it was flighted on April 8 and 9. The SABC said the advert incited violence.<\/p>\n<p>The DA laid a complaint with Icasa, after which a public hearing was held on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The SABC then brought back the advert and aired it on its channels.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Ayisafani&#8217; (It&#8217;s not the same) advert shows Maimane standing in front of a mirror talking about the current state of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The SAPS lodged the complaint on April 19.
