AutoTrader says that the intersection between price, mileage, and body type shows that hatchbacks continue to offer the best value for money given that on average, it has the lowest mileage. The trade-off, however, is a higher average vehicle age.<\/p>\n

The group noted in its annual Car Industry Report that over 102 million searches were conducted by body type in the 12 months between January and December of 2021.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen<\/span> leads<\/span> the<\/span>\u00a0body type-specific<\/span><\/span>\u00a0searches appearing in 4 of <\/span><\/span>the top 6 categories (out of 18) as well <\/span><\/span>as once again, dominating the top 3 <\/span><\/span>for hatchbacks. The Mercedes-Benz <\/span><\/span>E-Class<\/span> Coup\u00e9<\/span> continues<\/span> to<\/span> show<\/span><\/span> popularity for consumers looking for a<\/span><\/span> sportier executive Sedan, surpassing<\/span><\/span> the<\/span> BMW 2-series within the Coup\u00e9 <\/span><\/span>category.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

AutoTrader said that as<\/span> the<\/span> fastest<\/span> growing<\/span> <\/span>body type globally, it was no surprise that SUVs <\/span><\/span>had the most searches over the course of the last year<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>Single and Double cab bakkies however <\/span><\/span>still continued to generate high search <\/span><\/span>volumes resulting in bakkies retaining <\/span><\/span>the highest consumer consideration <\/span><\/span>if one combines single and double <\/span><\/span>cabs.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
