{"id":57077,"date":"2014-05-08T12:26:59","date_gmt":"2014-05-08T10:26:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=57077"},"modified":"2014-05-08T14:26:42","modified_gmt":"2014-05-08T12:26:42","slug":"no-e-toll-summoneses-issued-sanral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/57077\/no-e-toll-summoneses-issued-sanral\/","title":{"rendered":"No e-toll summoneses issued: Sanral"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) has denied sending out any final letters of demand or court summonses to motorists, saying that particular route remains a last resort for the roads agency.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, 6 May, Justice Project South Africa (JPSA) issued a press statement saying that the Sanral Violations Processing Centre (VPC) had started sending out emails stating that \u201cA Final Demand has been issued in regard to your e-toll Violations Processing Centre (VPC) Account\u201d and \u201cA summons has been issued\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not clear at this stage whether the summons referred to in the email is a civil or criminal summons, as neither the Final Demand nor the summons has as yet been received by the company in question,\u201d the JPSA said.<\/p>\n<p>The JPSA added that for a summons to be issued, a court date would be required so that it may appear on the summons.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_56963\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/E-toll-summons.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-56963\" class=\"wp-image-56963 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/E-toll-summons.jpg\" alt=\"E-toll summons\" width=\"600\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/E-toll-summons.jpg 600w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/E-toll-summons-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-56963\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alleged E-toll summons<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In response to queries about the emails, Sanral spokesperson, Vusi Mona said that the roads agency did not send them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sanral has neither issued any final letters of demand, nor requested any summons to be issued by the National Prosecuting Authority,&#8221; Mona said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are still following the normal process of following up on outstanding toll fees. The issuing of summons is the last resort.
