DA MP Tim Harris will head up investment promotion for the City of Cape Town, mayor Patricia de Lille said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Harris would join her office to align city and provincial economic programmes, presenting a “united front” for investors looking to create jobs in the city.<\/p>\n
Harris was the Democratic Alliance’s finance spokesman in Parliament and developed the party’s policies in this regard.<\/p>\n
He had now left Parliament and was likely to start in his new position next month, said city spokeswoman Priya Reddy.<\/p>\n
De Lille said Harris’s involvement would help maintain Cape Town’s status as “the best-run city in the country” and provide “new vigour” to make progress possible.<\/p>\n
“With two years to go until the local government election in 2016, we are committed to extending Cape Town’s lead as South Africa’s premier investment destination.”<\/p>\n
