{"id":583564,"date":"2022-05-07T17:30:48","date_gmt":"2022-05-07T15:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=583564"},"modified":"2022-05-06T16:58:31","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T14:58:31","slug":"hyundai-staria-vs-kia-carnival-vs-vw-kombi-r800000-family-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/583564\/hyundai-staria-vs-kia-carnival-vs-vw-kombi-r800000-family-car\/","title":{"rendered":"Hyundai Staria vs Kia Carnival vs VW Kombi \u2013 R800,000 family cars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several multi-purpose vehicles have arrived in South Africa in recent months, catering to larger families or businesses that require people carriers.<\/p>\n<p>Kia as a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Group, launched its new MPV, the Carnival in January this year, to replace the Grand Sedona, following the launch of the Hyundai Staria in late 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The Hyundai Staria and new Kia Carnival offer slightly more space than South Africa&#8217;s staple family cars which include the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, and Volkswagen Tiguan.<\/p>\n<p>Base configuration models start at around R800,000, some R200,000 more than the Fortuner, Tiguan and Everest, but owners with larger families will appreciate the versatility of the seating configurations.<\/p>\n<p>These South Korean vehicles compete with the long-loved Volkswagen Kombi, which has seen a resurgence. VW aims to extend its MPV offering through the introduction an all-electric MPV and van range, the ID Buzz and ID Buzz Cargo, in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>BusinessTech looked at the three people carriers you can
