{"id":60121,"date":"2014-06-11T00:05:52","date_gmt":"2014-06-10T22:05:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=60121"},"modified":"2014-06-10T16:13:55","modified_gmt":"2014-06-10T14:13:55","slug":"autopage-to-snap-up-nashua-mobile-stores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/60121\/autopage-to-snap-up-nashua-mobile-stores\/","title":{"rendered":"Autopage to snap up Nashua Mobile stores"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Autopage, a wholly owned subsidiary of Altron, is in talks with Nashua Mobile to swallow up a chunk of its retail stores.<\/p>\n<p>Nashua Mobile chief executive, Mark Taylor, told BusinessTech that Autopage looked at an option to take up some of the leases at its stores, which is subject to competition approvals.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor said in April that Nashua Mobile would wind down completely within the next six months after Reunert, the parent company of\u00a0 the mobile service provider, said that \u201cit is unlikely that this business would generate acceptable returns\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Autopage entered into a sale agreement with Nashua Mobile to purchase its 65,000 strong Cell C subscriber base for approximately R91.5 million, having announced in April that it would dispose of its MTN and Vodacom subscriber bases for R2.26 billion.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23530\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Mark-Taylor-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23530\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23530\" src=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Mark-Taylor-2.jpg\" alt=\"Mark Taylor\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Mark-Taylor-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Mark-Taylor-2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-23530\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mark Taylor<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Taylor said that Autopages&#8217; approach &#8220;is definitely in our interest&#8221; and expressed his surprise at how much interest the stores had generated. He said that Nashua has been approached by two large handset makers, retailers and mobile operators.<\/p>\n<p>Nashua Mobile&#8217;s total store footprint is at approximately 120, with 75 located in shopping malls.
