{"id":606126,"date":"2022-07-15T12:18:46","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T10:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=606126"},"modified":"2022-07-15T12:18:46","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T10:18:46","slug":"airbnb-enters-deal-with-cape-town-to-attract-more-remote-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/technology\/606126\/airbnb-enters-deal-with-cape-town-to-attract-more-remote-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Airbnb enters deal with Cape Town to attract more remote workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Accommodation-sharing service Airbnb has announced a new partnership deal with\u00a020 destinations around the world to make it easier to live and work anywhere, including Cape Town, Bali, Lisbon, and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>The deal is an extension of Airbnb&#8217;s &#8216;live and work anywhere initiative&#8217; to identify some of the most remote worker-friendly destinations in the world, and support governments in helping to revive tourism and provide economic support to communities after two-plus years of travel restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>The 20 destinations Airbnb will spotlight include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Baja California Sur, Mexico<\/li>\n<li>Bali, Indonesia<\/li>\n<li>Brindisi, Puglia, Italy<\/li>\n<li>Buenos Aires, Argentina<\/li>\n<li>Caribbean<\/li>\n<li>Canary Islands, Spain<\/li>\n<li>Cape Town, South Africa<\/li>\n<li>Colombia<\/li>\n<li>Dubai, United Arab Emirates<\/li>\n<li>Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy<\/li>\n<li>Lisbon, Portugal<\/li>\n<li>Malta<\/li>\n<li>Mexico City, Mexico<\/li>\n<li>Palm Springs, California, USA<\/li>\n<li>Queensland, Australia<\/li>\n<li>Rural France<\/li>\n<li>Salzkammergut, Austria<\/li>\n<li>Tampa Bay, Florida, USA<\/li>\n<li>Thailand<\/li>\n<li>Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cape Town\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Airbnb said it will work closely with Cape Town Tourism on a range of initiatives, including building a dedicated custom-built hub for Cape Town that will showcase top local long-term stay listings as well as important information relating to entry requirements and visa policies to attract remote workers.<\/p>\n<p>Airbnb will also partner with the city on educational campaigns to promote responsible hosting and travelling as a remote worker. The Cape Town hub is expected to launch later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Cape Town and other tourism destinations in South Africa are also set to benefit from the introduction of a \u2018Remote Working Visa\u2019 for South Africa. The visa is aimed at attracting \u2018digital nomads\u2019 \u2013 people who will live in and work remotely from cities such as Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>Visas for digital nomads are travel permits that\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etiasvisa.com\/etias-news\/digital-nomad-visas-eu-countries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legalise<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>the status of travelling professionals. Like tourist visas, they are easy to obtain and do not require long paperwork and a work contract.
