The majority of our customers didn’t have a need for it.”

Olivier, however, was quick to note that this doesn’t mean that the bank exists in isolation, and it is fully aware of what the other banks are doing.

“We can’t bury our heads in the sand, and then look up and see that the world has changed. We take note of what’s going on.”

Ultimately, however, as smartphone adoption in South Africa increases, and consumers get more tech savvy, Capitec noted that the app will diverge on feature phone and smartphone platforms.

Quinton was invited and hosted by Capitec to tour its head offices in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

More on Capitec’s mobile app

The Capitec banking app is here

Capitec banking app on its way

Capitec Bank selects Entersekt for mobile security app

Capitec banking app: “the jury is still out”

After years of apparent indifference towards app-based mobile banking, Capitec has finally come last-to-market with a mobile offering – but why the sudden change of heart?

[961
8193,2003,1798,5796,26,8195
post-60875","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-banking","tag-andre-olivier","tag-banking-app","tag-capitec","tag-charl-nel","tag-headline","tag-len-gerber
["GET
