Despite a continuing year-on-year overall PC monitor market decline, shipments in the sector were much stronger than forecasts, the International Data Corporation (IDC) reported.<\/p>\n

Worldwide PC monitor shipments totaled nearly 33.7 million units in the first quarter of 2014 (1Q14), a year-over-year decline of -0.4% – however this is much higher than the initial forecast of 31 million units.<\/p>\n

However, the IDC expects worldwide shipments to continue on their current downward trajectory, slipping to 106 million units for the full year 2018.<\/p>\n

“Geographically, Japan and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions delivered the largest gains during the first quarter while Dell and HP both experienced solid shipment growth,” the IDC said.<\/p>\n

In terms of vendors, Dell remains in the number 1 position with 14.9% of the market share.<\/p>\n

Japan and Western Europe delivered the biggest gains for Dell with 32.4% and 14.7% quarter-over-quarter growth respectively, while the U.S. market remained essentially flat, the IDC said.<\/p>\n

Samsung claims second spot in the market, followed by HP, LG and Lenovo.<\/p>\n
