Johannesburg-based business school, the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) has officially unveiled GIBSdirect, its new online learning portal.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday\u2019s time-pressured business environment makes it difficult for many professionals to take time out to study, but whether you\u2019re in a corporate job or running your own company ongoing learning is imperative for those who want to get ahead,\u201d said Sue Swart, GIBS digital marketing manager.<\/p>\n
The school says that all GIBSdirect courses have been specially tailored to suit the unique online learning environment. A fully integrated, blended learning offering comprises a combination of lecture notes, articles, case studies, practical examples and video clips of faculty, while discussion forums provide the opportunity to interact with GIBS lecturers and fellow students.<\/p>\n
Students can choose to do the modules as standalone courses or they can opt to complete all 10 modules to be awarded the GIBS Programme for Management Development (PMD).<\/p>\n
While students can work at times that suit their schedule, the work for each module needs to be completed within the two-month period over which the module runs.<\/p>\n
\u201cModules are \u2018ring-fenced\u2019 in this way as our research and experience show that such deadlines contribute to better completion rates and therefore ensure that students get a return on their education investment,\u201d Swart said.<\/p>\n
Applications for GIBSdirect are currently open for two modules: Marketing and Financial Management, with applications for Leadership and People Management opening soon. Seven additional modules will also be introduced within the next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
