This has a large part to do with <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">consumers<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">being<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">more<\/span> b<span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ody-type <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">conscious when it comes to bakkies <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">versus other body types, said AutoTrader.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen leads the body-type specific searches appearing in 4 of the top 6 categories (out of 18) and again filling the top three spots for hatchbacks. In 2022, the top three most enquired on brands were Toyota, Volkswagen and BMW. Together they generated over 40.9% of all consumer enquiries, said AutoTrader.<\/p>\n<p>Other key insights from the report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Audi RS E-Tron GT was the top searched and top viewed electric vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>Volkswagen was the most searched-for brand, bumping BMW into second.<\/li>\n<li>The Toyota Hilux was the most searched for, and most enquired on, model.<\/li>\n<li>The Volkswagen Golf GTI continues to be the most searched-for variant.<\/li>\n<li>BMW was again the most viewed car brand.<\/li>\n<li>The Volkswagen Polo was the most viewed model.<\/li>\n<li>Toyota Hilux 2.8GD-6 was the most viewed variant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AutoTrader noted a 9% increase in average used car prices YoY (R389,145 to R423,964), a 2% increase in used average car mileage YoY (75,830km to 77,147km), while the average year model is 2017.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/HiluxSingleCab-e1647950029965.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-522976\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/HiluxSingleCab-e1647950029965.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It said that the <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">intersection<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">between<\/span> p<span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">rice, m<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ileage and body type shows that the <\/span><span class=\"\" dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">hatchbacks continue to offer the <span class=\"highlight begin selected appended\">best <\/span><\/span><span class=\"\" dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"highlight end selected appended\">value<\/span> for money, given that, on average <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">it has the lowest mileage.
