{"id":613483,"date":"2022-08-03T09:55:45","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T07:55:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=613483"},"modified":"2022-08-03T09:55:45","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T07:55:45","slug":"eskom-announces-stage-2-load-shedding-heres-the-new-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/613483\/eskom-announces-stage-2-load-shedding-heres-the-new-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"Eskom announces stage 2 load shedding &#8211; here&#8217;s the new schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Power utility Eskom has announced that stage 2 load shedding will be implemented today, following further losses in generation capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Load shedding will take place between <strong>16h00 and 00h00<\/strong> on <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> and <strong>Thursday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The delay in returning a generation unit to service each at Arnot, Koeberg and the Kusile power stations as well as unplanned outages of a generation unit each at Camden, Medupi and two units each at Grootvlei, Hendrina and Majuba power stations, have exacerbated the capacity constraints,&#8221; Eskom said.<\/p>\n<p>Units are expected to return over the next few days, it said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PowerAlert1?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PowerAlert1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Due to the shortage of generation capacity, Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented at 16:00 &#8211; 24:00 this afternoon and tomorrow <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MrW4XgXYLy\">pic.twitter.com\/MrW4XgXYLy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Eskom Hld SOC Ltd (@Eskom_SA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Eskom_SA\/status\/1554735509175517184?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 3, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Eskom suspended load shedding 11 days ago, following five weeks of intense rolling blackouts that reached as high as stage 6 \u2013 the shedding of 6,000 MW from the grid and load shedding for up to four hours at a time.<\/p>\n<p>The period pushed president Cyril Ramaphosa to take drastic action and implement an energy crisis plan, which will see the government reduce red tape and fast-track new energy capacity builds to bolster the country\u2019s energy sources.<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s Energy Crisis Committee on Monday (1 August) laid out a plan that will see the country add as much as 1,950MW of power to the grid over the next three months.
