{"id":619137,"date":"2022-08-23T16:34:44","date_gmt":"2022-08-23T14:34:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=619137"},"modified":"2022-08-23T16:34:44","modified_gmt":"2022-08-23T14:34:44","slug":"the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/619137\/the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-12\/","title":{"rendered":"The most in-demand job skills in South Africa right now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jobs portal\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.careerjunction.co.za\/\">CareerJunction<\/a>\u00a0has published its latest employment insights report, detailing supply and demand trends in the South African job market.<\/p>\n<p>The research is based on extensive data acquired from Saongroup South Africa, where millions of registered job searchers can view job postings from around 5,000 of the nation&#8217;s leading recruiters (both agencies and companies).<\/p>\n<p>The report showed that there was a slight decline in recruitment activity over the past month (-2%), while hiring activity year-on-year has remained 23% higher in July 2022 than it was in July 2021.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>In-demand skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to CareerJunction, the Finance sector saw the biggest increase in hiring activity, followed by Business and Management as well as Information Technology.<\/p>\n<p>In each sector, several roles have been advertised more frequently:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Finance: <span style=\"color: #339966;\">+8%<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial\/Project Accounting<\/li>\n<li>Internal auditing<\/li>\n<li>Bookkeeping<\/li>\n<li>Purchasing and procurement<\/li>\n<li>Cost and management accounting<\/li>\n<li>Accounts payable\/receivable<\/li>\n<li>Payroll and wage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Information Technology: <span style=\"color: #339966;\">+4%<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Software development<\/li>\n<li>Systems\/ Network Administration<\/li>\n<li>Business analysis<\/li>\n<li>Data analysis\/ data warehousing<\/li>\n<li>IT project administration management<\/li>\n<li>Technical\/Business architecture<\/li>\n<li>Systems analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Business and Management: <\/b><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>+3%\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Middle\/Department management<\/li>\n<li>Team leader and supervisor<\/li>\n<li>Infrastructure\/Operations consulting<\/li>\n<li>Staff recruitment\/selection<\/li>\n<li>Executive management\/director<\/li>\n<li>Senior management<\/li>\n<li>Business development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There has been no significant decline in hiring activity for any job sector over the past three years, said CareerJunction.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Warehousing and Logistics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The jobs portal noted significant growth in job opportunities in the warehousing and logistics sectors of South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The roles within certain sub-sectors that have been particularly driving the job growth include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Warehouse manager<\/li>\n<li>Stock controller<\/li>\n<li>Logistics Manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The majority of warehousing and logistics positions are for Gauteng (58%), followed by the Western Cape (13%) and KwaZulu Natal (15%).<\/p>\n<p>CareerJunction said that logistics has become more important since the growing population demands further sufficient food supplies and supply chain mechanisms to access food &amp; nutritional products as well as other consumer goods.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The digitalisation age has brought many products \u201ccloser\u201d to consumers in that products can be ordered with a few clicks.
