{"id":62083,"date":"2014-07-06T10:42:40","date_gmt":"2014-07-06T08:42:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=62083"},"modified":"2014-07-06T10:42:40","modified_gmt":"2014-07-06T08:42:40","slug":"vodacom-please-call-me-battle-to-continue-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/62083\/vodacom-please-call-me-battle-to-continue-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Vodacom Please Call Me battle to continue: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nkosana Makate, the man who claims that he came up with the idea for the successful Please Call Me service, vows he will take his court battle to the Constitutional Court if he has to.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to a report in the Sunday Times, in which Makate said that the recent dismissal of his case against Vodacom \u201cpaved the way to the Supreme Court\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The High Court dismissed the civil case against Vodacom with costs on 1 July 2014.<\/p>\n<p>According to Makate, however, the ruling judge in the case at least recognised that a contract existed between the parties.<\/p>\n<p>Makate wanted as much as R6.75 billion from Vodacom for inventing the Please Call Me service.<\/p>\n<p>According to Makate, his boss at the time, Philip Geissler, promised \u2013 in an oral agreement \u2013 to facilitate remuneration negotiations with the company.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom argued that the rights to anything developed or produced by its employees belong to the company.
