{"id":62467,"date":"2014-07-10T13:09:46","date_gmt":"2014-07-10T11:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=62467"},"modified":"2014-07-10T13:09:46","modified_gmt":"2014-07-10T11:09:46","slug":"telkom-in-hitler-parody-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/62467\/telkom-in-hitler-parody-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Telkom in Hitler parody video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trade union, Solidarity, has created a parody of Telkom on its YouTube channel in which it attacks the firm&#8217;s retrenchment policy using a widely-used &#8220;Hitler reacts&#8221; meme.<\/p>\n<p>The video is entitled: The tragedy of the 2014 Racekom (Telkom) retrenchments, and is taken from a scene in the <span class=\"st\">film, Downfall<\/span>, depicting <span class=\"st\">Adolf Hitler&#8217;s last days in a Berlin bunker<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You all told me the racial lay-offs would not be apposed,&#8221; Solidarity has &#8216;Hitler&#8217; saying in the video.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sir, you said Racekom&#8230;I think you meant Telkom,&#8221; one of the officers corrects &#8216;Hitler&#8217; further on in the sketch.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/G1IKa7OV0T8?list=UUcomLjfLpLHB1of_IxC6CDg\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 video forms part of the 2014 Racekom campaign launched by the union, in which it accuses Telkom of carrying out large-scale retrenchments where race is used as a criterion.<\/p>\n<p>Solidarity launched a website called <a title=\"http:\/\/racekom.co.za\/\" href=\"http:\/\/racekom.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\">Racekom.co.za<\/a>, claiming: \u201cIf you work at Telkom, and you are white, you are guilty!
