Both of its new configurations are launching at roughly R1 million, with the Everest Sport at R965,400 and the top-of-the-range Everest Platinum at R1,113,100.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;older&#8221; staple model now sits between R588,300 and R877,300, according to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ford.co.za\/suvs\/everest-019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ford<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>significantly less than the Next Gen version. Ford&#8217;s competitor Toyota is yet to release an updated Fortuner; however, its current offering caps off at R870,900.<\/p>\n<p>In July, 21 out of the top 50 best-selling cars in the country were SUVs or cross-overs, reported the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers South Africa (Naamsa).<\/p>\n<p>BusinessTech looked at some of the Everest competitors available in South Africa:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Mitsubishi Pajero Sport<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Price: From<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mitsubishi-motors.co.za\/vehicle\/pajero-sport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> R684,990 &#8211;
