President Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Thuthukile Zuma, has landed a top job in the department of telecoms and postal services, having been appointed as chief of staff at the age of 25, the Mail & Guardian reported<\/a> on Friday (25 July).<\/p>\n

According to the report, Zuma has held the position since May, after her father – and president of the country – announced his new Cabinet.<\/p>\n

She will be earning close to R1 million per annum in the role, and may have as many as 20 people reporting to her; with responsibilities ranging from managing a R4.1 million budget in the ministry, to serving as an interface between the department and the ministry, or acting as a delegate for the ministry itself, the paper said.<\/p>\n

Comparatively, ministers get paid R2.1 million per annum, while deputy ministers earn R1.7 million.<\/p>\n

At 25, Thuthukile is the youngest of the president\u2019s four daughters with ex-wife Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and previously worked with Telecoms minister Siyabonga Cwele at the State Security Agency – as a public liaison officer – for less than a year.<\/p>\n

She reportedly graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in April 2011 and received an honours degree in anthropology in June 2012 – a far stretch from the managerial skills and experience often required for such senior positions.<\/p>\n
