{"id":640941,"date":"2022-11-04T14:16:48","date_gmt":"2022-11-04T12:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=640941"},"modified":"2022-11-04T14:16:48","modified_gmt":"2022-11-04T12:16:48","slug":"massive-30-hour-water-outage-hits-joburg-these-are-the-areas-affected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/640941\/massive-30-hour-water-outage-hits-joburg-these-are-the-areas-affected\/","title":{"rendered":"Massive 30-hour water outage hits Joburg \u2013 these are the areas affected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bulk water supplier Rand Water announced an emergency shutdown on Friday (4 November) due to a major burst on the A6 Pipeline, which supplies water from Vereeniging purification works to Zwartkopjes pump station.<\/p>\n<p>Joburg Water said in a media statement that the water shutdown would be in effect from 18h00 Friday night and last for about 30 hours.<\/p>\n<p>While Rand Water and Johannesburg Water infrastructure \u2013 including towers and reservoirs \u2013 will have maximum capacity during the shutdown, several reservoirs, towers and direct feeds will be affected \u2013 should the water level drop to critical levels.<\/p>\n<p>The direct feeds affected include the Hector Norris pump station (Johannesburg CBD) and Turf Club direct feed (Turffontein Racecourse). The<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJohannesburg Water encourages residents to reduce consumption and use water for human and household needs, which will significantly assist in sustaining supply of affected systems,\u201d said the water supplier.<\/p>\n<p>Here are all the areas affected by the 30-hour shutdown:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Forest Hill Tower zone<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oakdene<\/li>\n<li>parts of
