Samsung Electronics South Africa says it will open a television manufacturing plant in The Dube Trade Port, Durban, by end of this year.<\/p>\n
The group said that total investment will reach $20 million (R210 million) through to 2018.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis project is the result of close collaboration between Samsung and the South African authorities – at National and Provincial level. ”<\/p>\n
“Samsung remains the leading consumer electronics brand in South Africa and we are determined to add value to the South African community in which we operate,\u201d said Matthew Thackrah, deputy MD of Samsung Electronics South Africa.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe establishment of new plant is another step in our goal to create new business opportunities, products and technology.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is unclear how many new jobs the new manufacturing facility will provide.<\/p>\n
The Dube TradePort is an air-freight logistics hub located alongside King Shaka International Airport, on the North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, and in close proximity to Durban.<\/p>\n
