Wholesale group Massmart says that upgrades to its e-commerce and online customer experience systems in 2022 mean that it will hold to its promise for swift delivery and stable customer experiences over Black Friday.<\/p>\n

The group said that 2022 has been a “transformational year” for e-commerce at Massmart, following initiatives that have significantly improved the online customer experience across the group\u2019s shopping websites and apps.<\/p>\n

“One result is that Massmart will maintain its 2-5 day delivery promise<\/strong> during the year-end peak trading period that includes Black Friday and the festive season – a time when many retailers usually extend delivery lead times in line with the increased demand,” it said.<\/p>\n

“The changes we have made over the past 18 months have unlocked efficiencies that have helped us to consistently meet our delivery promise, even when demand increases. Integrating Wumdrop\u2019s same-day delivery services and the ability to ship orders directly from our Distribution Centres have been game changers for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

One further enabler has been the appointment of regional e-commerce managers, who are responsible for driving e-commerce operations efficiency across the group, it said.<\/p>\n

The impact of these improvements has been seen at Makro, where over 75% of all deliveries are made within 48 hours, Massmart said.<\/p>\n

The group said that enhancements to its online shopping platforms in 2022 have doubled conversion rates and revenue on Game.co.za since the revamped website launched in May, and it has seen triple-digit growth of the revitalised pantry and liquor categories on the Makro App, since its launch in July.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to Black Friday, Massmart said that shoppers can expect low prices on products such as smart TVs, large and small appliances and home gym equipment.<\/p>\n

Makro will run its Black5Day promotion online and on the Makro Shopping App from 23 November and will launch a “secret coupon” feature for added discounts before checkout.<\/p>\n

The wholesaler’s flame sale is currently in its third week, with the Blazing Hot sale running through 22 November. After the current sale ends, the Makro Black 5Day sale kicks off on the 23rd and will run over Black Friday to the end of the weekend.<\/p>\n

Game, meanwhile, will offer its largest online range ever, starting at midnight on 25 November. The Game Black Friday deals will be sweetened by the Game Price Beat Promise, which will give customers who find the same product cheaper elsewhere a refund of the price difference plus an additional 10%.<\/p>\n

Game is bucking the trend of the last two years to run week-long or month-long sales, and will instead be focused on the one-day Black Friday sale, with many of its stores opening at midnight on the day (00h01 on the 25th).<\/p>\n

Starting on 21 November, Builders will also be running Black Friday specials on over 150 products, Massmart said, with discounts of up to 50%.<\/p>\n

“Black Friday is one of the highlights of the year for customers and retailers alike, and we are determined to provide all our customers with an efficient and rewarding online shopping experience,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n
