{"id":646091,"date":"2022-11-24T15:18:40","date_gmt":"2022-11-24T13:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=646091"},"modified":"2022-11-24T15:23:45","modified_gmt":"2022-11-24T13:23:45","slug":"eskom-drops-load-shedding-to-stage-3-heres-the-new-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/646091\/eskom-drops-load-shedding-to-stage-3-heres-the-new-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"Eskom drops load shedding to stage 3 &#8211; here&#8217;s the new schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eskom has announced that load shedding will be reduced to stage 3 during the night throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The national power utility said that courtesy of diesel supplied by PetroSA this week, it is able to reduce load shedding, however, only during night time.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom said that load shedding will come down from Stage 4 to Stage 3 between 16:00 and 05:00 up until Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Daytime load-shedding will be maintained at Stage 2 during 05:00 \u2013 16:00 daily until further notice, said the utility.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, 24 November<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 2: until 16h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 3: 16h00 to 00h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Friday, 25 November<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 3: 16h00 to 00h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Saturday, 26\u00a0 November<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 3: 16h00 to 00h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sunday, 27\u00a0 November<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 3: 16h00 to 00h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Monday, 28\u00a0 November<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00<\/li>\n<li>After 05h00 \u2013 To be determined<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eskom said that it would publish a further update as soon as there are any significant changes.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom had been scrambling for diesel with little left in its reserves and no money to buy it.<\/p>\n<p>The minister of public enterprises, Pravin Gordhan,<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/645727\/major-lifeline-thrown-to-eskom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> announced this Thursday<\/a><\/strong> (24 November) that the government had been able to liaison between PetroSA and Eskom to get 50 million litres to the necessary power stations.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom&#8217;s open-cycle gas turbines, which are used to generate energy during times of high demand across the country, require diesel to operate.
