{"id":647705,"date":"2022-12-01T09:23:10","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T07:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=647705"},"modified":"2022-12-01T09:23:10","modified_gmt":"2022-12-01T07:23:10","slug":"the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/647705\/the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-13\/","title":{"rendered":"The most in-demand job skills in South Africa right now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jobs portal CareerJunction has revealed a list of jobs that saw growing hiring activity in the past three months.<\/p>\n<p>The group&#8217;s latest Employment Insights Report showed that although there has been a slight slip in recruitment activity in October by 4% month-on-month.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the report noted that it is reassuring for job-seeking South Africans that hiring activity remains 9% higher than it was in October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>To represent online labour dynamics in South Africa, the CareerJunction report analyzes supply and demand trends in the online employment market.<\/p>\n<p>The analysis is based on 5,000 of South Africa&#8217;s largest recruiters, agencies and employers, who advertise their job positions on the portal.<\/p>\n<p>Career Junction reported significant hiring activity in building &amp; construction, architecture and engineering and finance sectors have seen the biggest increase in hiring activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Building &amp; Construction (<span style=\"color: #339966;\">+19%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Electrician<\/li>\n<li>Quantity Surveying<\/li>\n<li>Consulting Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Architecture &amp; Engineering (<span style=\"color: #339966;\">+17%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Civil\/ Structural Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Other Architecture &amp; Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Finance (<span style=\"color: #339966;\">+5<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial\/ Project Accounting<\/li>\n<li>Bookkeeping<\/li>\n<li>Internal Auditing<\/li>\n<li>Credit Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CareerJunction noted that there had been a decrease in certain sectors, namely:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Legal (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-15%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Property lawyer<\/li>\n<li>Drafting and Paralegal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Warehousing and Logistics (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-10%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Warehouse Operations<\/li>\n<li>Logistics Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Manufacturing and Assembly (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-4%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Production Inspector\/ Testing<\/li>\n<li>Artisan<\/li>\n<li>Quality Control<\/li>\n<li>Plant\/Production Control<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Provincial differences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to Career Junction, the majority of employment vacancies remain in Gauteng at 54%, with little movement being recorded in relation to recruitment per location.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just over 30% of job offers are in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. International work opportunities remain at 3%.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Demand for sales professionals has grown consistently when looking at August, September and October over the past three years (2020 to 2022) in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and the Western Cape, said Career Junction.<\/p>\n<p>Marketing professionals have been having a tougher time, with demand in the Western Cape falling by 9% when compared to last year. Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal are, however, showing consistent growth in demand for marketing professionals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Similarly, demand for design, media &amp; arts professionals declined between 2021 and 2022 in the Western Cape (by 34%) and in KwaZulu-Natal (-5%).
