BMW has announced the pricing for its new M2 and XM hybrid SUV coming to South Africa in 2023 \u2013 which will launch with a price tag of R1,503,975 and R3,400,000, respectively.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The second-generation M2 and the all-new XM were revealed in October at the Kyalami BMW M Fest 2022.<\/p>\n

“The BMW M2 continues the brand’s tradition of sporty models with compact dimensions, first showcased in 1973 with the introduction of the BMW 2002 turbo. The new BMW M2 encapsulates the pure joy of driving with its compact dimensions and six-cylinder in-line engine,” said BMW.<\/p>\n

According to TopAuto, The new flagship 2 Series sports the same engine setup found in the M3 and M4, a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo unit offering 338kW and 550Nm, which mates to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that drives the rear wheels.<\/p>\n

BMW also confirmed that South African buyers would have the option of a six-speed manual transmission.<\/p>\n

The new M2 boasts 66kW more power than the previous M2, allowing the new generation to sprint to 100km\/h in 4.1 seconds and 200km\/h in 13.5 seconds in automatic guise.<\/p>\n

The top speed for both versions is capped at 250km\/h, though with the optional M Driver’s Package, this can be lifted to 285km\/h.<\/p>\n

More interestingly, the BMW XM SUV is the German manufacturer’s first-ever high-performance vehicle with an electrified drive system and the first new standalone M model since the BMW M1 was launched 44 years ago.<\/p>\n

“The BMW XM represents a complete reimagining of the high-performance car segment,” said BMW.<\/p>\n

“It underlines the ability of BMW M GmbH to break with established conventions and push boundaries to offer fans of the brand the ultimate driving experience,” it added.<\/p>\n

The XM is a plug-in hybrid and gets its power from a 4.4-litre V8 engine in combination with a battery-powered motor, while it’s claimed to have a combined fuel consumption of 1.5-1.6l\/100km.<\/p>\n

The hybrid SUV generates 480kW and 800Nm \u2013 360kW and 650Nm of that coming from fossil fuels and the rest from electricity \u2013 hitting 100km\/h in 4.3 seconds up to a limited 250km\/h.<\/p>\n

If the power offered by the standard XM is not enough, BMW will also debut the XM Label Red in 2023, which is said to be “the most powerful road-legal series-produced car in the history of BMW M,” with a 550kW\/1,000Nm output.<\/p>\n

The global introductions of the new BMW XM and BMW M2 will commence in the second quarter of 2023.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
