Although a date was not confirmed for when the review application would be filed, it may affect Parliament\u2019s planned Tuesday vote on whether the President should undergo an impeachment inquiry. The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) is currently analysing a proposed cost-reflective electricity tariff model for Eskom. The power utility’s latest application for a 38% price increase is based on the old model, which the courts have ruled to be flawed. The regulator said the new model could improve price stability and assist with the nation\u2019s current power generation woes, however, its implementation is still years out. The government aims for a ratio of one ambulance per 10,000 people on average, but due to staff shortages, provincial health departments are operating only 49% of the 6,824 ambulances needed to meet this target. The North West is in the worst position, the data shows. Although the organisation has admitted that it is under strain due to numerous pit bull owners surrendering their animals, they remain committed to protecting these animals. This comes after another victim, a 39-year-old man in the North West province, was mauled to death by a pit bull over the weekend. While the local unit recovered some of its losses by the close of the week, it remains on the back foot as political uncertainty persists – but supported by news that the president is staying put and fighting on. On Monday, the rand was trading at R17.28 to the dollar, R18.29 to the euro and R21.32 to the pound.
