{"id":65414,"date":"2014-08-11T12:07:21","date_gmt":"2014-08-11T10:07:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=65414"},"modified":"2014-08-11T12:07:21","modified_gmt":"2014-08-11T10:07:21","slug":"d-day-for-telkom-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/65414\/d-day-for-telkom-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"D-Day for Telkom workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some Telkom managers and specialists have received calls on whether they will have a job after the company\u2019s new structures kick in on 1 September 2014.<\/p>\n<p>MyBroadband received information from managers and specialists who said they were informed their jobs were safe, and that their applications for new positions were successful.<\/p>\n<p>Some managers, however, were informed their applications were not successful. This means, as it stands, they will not have a job once the restructuring process kicks in. However, unsuccessful candidates can apply for new positions in phase 2 of the restructuring process.<\/p>\n<p>It is understood that some staff members who applied for early retirement were also informed whether their applications had been approved or not.<\/p>\n<p>Telkom confirmed in a communication to staff that it made verbal offers to successful candidates, and informed unsuccessful candidates on 8 August 2014.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Further \u201cFit for the Future\u201d dates<\/h3>\n<p>Telkom said phase 1 level 5 placements will commence on 12 August 2014 \u2013 a process which will run until 15 August 2014. This follows the phase 1 level 4 placements which started on 5 August.<\/p>\n<p>Phase 2 placements, which involve people not placed in phase 1, will start on 1 September 2014 and be concluded on 15 September 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 2nd phase of placements will be in September, giving employees not successfully placed during phase 1 a second chance to be placed.
