{"id":6581,"date":"2012-02-23T14:04:44","date_gmt":"2012-02-23T14:04:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=6581"},"modified":"2012-02-23T14:13:32","modified_gmt":"2012-02-23T14:13:32","slug":"limited-internet-access-within-4-5-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/it-services\/6581\/limited-internet-access-within-4-5-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Limited Internet access within 4-5 years?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ever-expanding frontier of the Internet is driving an information explosion &#8211; however, technology research group, Gartner, suggests that data access may well be curbed within the next 4-5 years.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at an event in Fourways on Thursday (February 23, 2012) Steve Prentice, Group VP at Gartner, noted rising dependence on the Internet and mobile communications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are more mobile phones in the world than people,\u201d he said, adding that more mobile phones are being produced than toothbrushes.<\/p>\n<p>According to Gartner, Global IP traffic is doubling every two years, while mobile data traffic is doubling every year.
