{"id":65876,"date":"2014-08-15T07:48:19","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T05:48:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=65876"},"modified":"2014-08-15T07:48:19","modified_gmt":"2014-08-15T05:48:19","slug":"ebay-to-take-bitcoin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/65876\/ebay-to-take-bitcoin\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebay to take Bitcoin?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ebay Inc&#8217;s PayPal is in talks with Coinbase Inc and other bitcoin transaction providers to integrate the virtual currency within its Braintree payments system, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Executives at PayPal, which owns the service that handles payments for startups from room-bookings network AirBnB to car-on-demand service Uber, have not struck any agreements, the Journal cited people familiar with the matter as saying.<\/p>\n<p>A deal would be an endorsement for a crypto currency, which is gaining acceptance with a slowly growing number of businesses, including online retailer Overstock.com.
