{"id":659005,"date":"2023-01-24T17:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=659005"},"modified":"2023-01-24T17:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T15:00:00","slug":"these-are-the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business-opinion\/659005\/these-are-the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-25\/","title":{"rendered":"These are the most in-demand job skills in South Africa right now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recent data from the jobs portal CareerJunction shows the most in-demand jobs in South Africa right now in light of an increase in overall hiring activity.<\/p>\n<p>The company&#8217;s latest Industry Report showed that when compared to the year before, December 2022 marked a 3% increase in hiring; however, a 6% decline in hiring from November to December 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to the group, this was mainly a result of a slowdown in recruitment across the Information Technology and Business &amp; Management sector and the Sales and Admin, Office &amp; Support sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The report offers an in-depth analysis of the online employment market in South Africa, focusing on the supply and demand for various occupations.<\/p>\n<p>The data for the report was gathered from 5,000 of the country&#8217;s largest recruiters, agencies, and employers who advertise job positions on the CareerJunction portal.<\/p>\n<p>CareerJunction reported growth in hiring activity in the Architecture &amp; Engineering and Building &amp; Construction sectors over the past three months:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Architecture &amp; Engineering (<span style=\"color: #339966;\">+15%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Electrical engineerings<\/li>\n<li>Other Architecture &amp; engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Building &amp; Construction (<span style=\"color: #339966;\">+16%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Electrician<\/li>\n<li>Construction works<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Business &amp; Management, Sales, Information Technology and Admin,<br \/>\nOffice &amp; Support sectors have seen the biggest decline in hiring activity over the past three months, reported CareerJunction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sales (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-8%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Representative\/sales consulting<\/li>\n<li>Account management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Business &amp; management (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-4%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Middle\/department management<\/li>\n<li>Team leader and supervisor<\/li>\n<li>Business development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Admin, office &amp; support (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-4%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Teller\/ cashier<\/li>\n<li>Human resources<\/li>\n<li>Switchboard\/ Reception<\/li>\n<li>Secretary<\/li>\n<li>Admin clerk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Information technology (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-3%<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Software development<\/li>\n<li>IT project adminstration\/management<\/li>\n<li>Database design\/development\/administration<\/li>\n<li>Data analysis\/data warehousing<\/li>\n<li>Business analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Regional differences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CareerJunction also reported that recruitment per province in South Africa remained static.<\/p>\n<p>The group said that Gauteng still offers the majority of South Africa&#8217;s job opportunities (55%) as the economic hub of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The following 32% of job offers are in the Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal combined.
