New research from New World Wealth (NWW) reveals where in South Africa its 49,000 millionaires live.<\/p>\n
In June 2014, there were approximately 49,000\u00a0high-net-worth individuals (HNWI)<\/span> in SA, while 2,060 of them were multi-millionaires.<\/p>\n Millionaires (HWNIs) are defined as individuals with a net worth greater than US$1 million (R10.6 million), while multi-millionaires are worth more than US$10 million (R106 million).<\/p>\n Broken down by city, NWW found that there were approximately 990 multi-millionaires living in Johannesburg, 380 in Cape Town, 115 in Durban and 105 in Pretoria.<\/p>\n In June 2014, there were approximately 23,000 HNWIs living in Joburg, 9,000 in Cape Town, 2,700 in Durban and 2,500 in Pretoria.<\/p>\n NWW noted that the top suburbs for multi-millionaires in Joburg were Sandhurst (130), Hyde Park (120), Bryanston (117) and Houghton (62).<\/p>\n In Cape Town, Camps Bay, with 48, beat Bishopscourt (41) and Constantia (34) for the most multi-millionaires.<\/p>\n Other notables included Umhlanga and La Lucia in in KwaZulu-Natal (72), Knysna (45), Plettenberg Bay (34), and Stellenbosch and Franschoek, with 31 HNWIs.<\/p>\n Top housing estates such as Zimbali, in KwaZulu-Natal, and Erinvale in Somerset West, <\/span>each have over 20 multi-millionaires living there.<\/p>\n NWW noted that its stats only include people living in each city\/suburb and not second home owners.<\/p>\n South African dollar millionaires hits 49,000<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n South Africa\u2019s millionaires set to grow 78%<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n South Africa\u2019s dollar billionaires<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\nMore on South Africa’s richest people<\/h3>\n
