The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has published the official fuel price adjustments for March 2023.<\/p>\n

As projected last week, petrol and diesel prices will increase in March by 127 cents and 30 cents per litre, respectively.<\/p>\n

The changes will come into effect from Wednesday, 1 March 2023.<\/p>\n

The average international product prices for Petrol increased whilst Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin decreased during the period under review.<\/p>\n

The Rand depreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period. The average Rand\/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 27 January 2023 to 23 February 2023 was 17.7402 compared to 17.0462 during the previous period.<\/p>\n

This led to a higher contribution to the Basic Fuel Prices on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 48.26 c\/l, 52.12 c\/l and 53.56 c\/l, respectively.<\/p>\n

The combined cumulative petrol and diesel Slate balances at the end of January 2023 amounted to a negative balance of R 2.711 billion.<\/p>\n

In line with the provisions of the Self-Adjusting Slate Levy Mechanism, a Slate Levy of 21.92 c\/l (increase of 4.38 c\/l) will be implemented into the price structures of petrol and diesel with effect from 01 March 2023.<\/p>\n
