4 load shedding continues this week &#8211; here is the new schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eskom will rotate between stage 3 and stage 4 load shedding this week.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 3 load shedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00 on Monday, with stage 4 being implemented until 05:00 on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom said that the pattern will continue until further notice, with the embattled power utility issuing a further update if any significant changes occur.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, 2 April<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 4: until 00h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, 4 April<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 4: 00h00 to 05h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 3 05h00 to 16h00<\/li>\n<li>Stage 4: 16h00 to 00h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eskom said that breakdowns currently stand at 15 148MW of generating capacity, with 7,417 MW of generating capacity out for service ahead of the winter period &#8211; which sees increased demand.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom said that four generation units were returned to service at Kriel, Matimba, Matla and Tutuka power stations in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>However, a generating unit each at Duvha, Hendrina and Kriel power stations were taken offline for repairs in the same period.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom said that delays in returning a unit to service at Duvha and Tutuka power stations are exacerbating capacity constraints.<\/p>\n<p>The embattled power utility has faced several headwinds over the last few months and was recently served a nearly R1 billion fine.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeslive.co.za\/sunday-times\/news\/2023-04-02-eskom-hit-with-r950m-penalty-for-koeberg-delays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TimesLive<\/a>, sources at Eskom said that the Frech firm Framatome was awarded R950 million in damages due to Eskom postponing planned work during a planned maintenance period that began last year.<\/p>\n<p>The French firm has a contract to replace six steam generators at South Africa&#8217;s only nuclear power station, Koeberg.<\/p>\n<p>Framatome was also awarded R650 million from Eskom last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are now over 100 active contractual disputes between Eskom and Framatome, with a single one of them with a value of approximately R1 billion,\u201d energy analyst Peter Becker
