The investigation into Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko\u2019s alleged use of cloned number plates has been completed, with a docket now with the police, according to a Sunday Times report.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the paper, JMPD director Gerrie Gerneke said that the matter is now a criminal case.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have more than enough information against this man,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
As there has been no admission of guilt from the Telkom head, Gerneke is quoted as saying Maseko \u201cwill have to appear\u201d in court.<\/p>\n
In July, businessman Mabena Motshoane said he spotted his cloned number plates on a black Range Rover, belonging to Maseko.<\/p>\n
He said that Maseko ran up about R30,000 in traffic fines using the cloned number plates.<\/p>\n
Telkom responded to the issue, saying that it is a \u201cpersonal matter\u201d that is in no way related to the group.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs such, Maseko will deal with it in his personal capacity,\u201d said Telkom.<\/p>\n
The group also avoided discussing the matter at the company\u2019s annual general meeting.<\/p>\n
When asked for comment by the paper, Maseko maintained that he is co-operating with authorities,\u00a0 but will not comment as no official charges have been laid.<\/p>\n
