MTN Group has partnered with global online payments company Skrill to facilitate payments through the mobile operator’s Mobile Money e-wallet.<\/p>\n
Through the partnership, Mobile Money users will now be able to use funds from their mobile wallets to purchase goods and services online from a brands integrated into the Skrill network.<\/p>\n
MTN Mobile Money users in Ivory Coast and Rwanda will be first to use the service, when the \u2018Pay by Skrill\u2019 service is introduced in September.<\/p>\n
As of June 2014, MTN Mobile Money has over 18.4 million customers in 15 countries.<\/p>\n
The service enables users to perform local and international money transfers, make utility payments and purchases.<\/p>\n
Skrill\u2019s worldwide payment network direct payment processing via 100 payment options in 200 countries and territories and 40 currencies.<\/p>\n
According to Skrill, the partnership should “provide impetus for MTN\u2019s remaining 200 million mobile subscribers to embrace mobile payments.”<\/p>\n
