Sasol has opened its bursary applications for 2024. with the group looking for high-achieving Grade 12 students passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).<\/p>\n
Sasol said the undergraduate bursary is all-inclusive, with applications closing on 23 May 2023.<\/p>\n
In 2022, Sasol awarded 255 bursaries, with over 550 students currently studying on Sasol bursaries.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur bursary programme isn\u2019t just about developing our own pool of talent for the future \u2014 it is about developing a STEM ecosystem that helps our nation to be more competitive and create better opportunities for the youth,\u201d said Monica Luwes, Manager of the Graduate Centre at Sasol.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you want to help innovate for a better world and solve problems for our communities, a career in STEM might be for you. If you\u2019re granted one of our bursaries, you will not only gain tertiary education but also the opportunity to start and succeed in your career for the new decade.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSouth Africa is facing a profound shortage of STEM skills. If you are in Grade 7 and about to choose your subjects for matric, it\u2019s a great idea to consider studying Mathematics and Physical Science.<\/p>\n
“Good passes in these subjects will enable you to study STEM degrees at the tertiary level. Remember, you will be using your Grade 11 results for your initial applications to universities and for bursaries.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sasol said that the bursary will cover tuition costs, accommodation, meals, pocket money, an allowance for a laptop and a calculator and will offer bursary support to help students reach their academic potential while maintaining their well-being.<\/p>\n
Candidates will need to get a 60% for Mathematics, 60% for Physical Science and 60% for English to be eligible for the bursary. Successful candidates are offered an opportunity to join the programme after they complete their studies.<\/p>\n
