The SA National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) should stop billing motorists in Gauteng until the advisory panel into e-tolling completes its report, the ANCYL in Gauteng said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe therefore call on Sanral to stop billing motorists until the rest hands over its report to the premier on the best mechanism of solving the e-toll headache,\u201d chairman Matome Chiloane told reporters in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n
He was speaking at the African National Congress Youth League\u2019s 70th birthday celebrations.<\/p>\n
Public hearings on the socio-economic impact of the e-tolls were being heard in Midrand. The panel would focus on the implications and perceptions of financing the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP) with e-tolls.<\/p>\n
Organisations were invited to respond to the information provided by the GFIP\u2019s implementers.<\/p>\n
The panel was expected to report back to Gauteng premier David Makhura at the end of November.<\/p>\n
Chiloane added that the ANC chairperson should be the premier of the province and vice versa.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhilst we acknowledge that the ANC remains the only centre of power, we maintain that there is a better synergy in the province when the chair of the ANC is the same individual as the premier.\u201d<\/p>\n
The ANC chairman in the province is Paul Mashatile.<\/p>\n
