Toyota has announced the pricing and line-up of its new Urban Cruiser, which will replace the current model of the popular crossover.<\/p>\n

The all-new Toyota Urban Cruiser has a starting price tag of R329,400, which is R46,200 more than the current Urban Cruiser (starting at R283,200).<\/p>\n

The new model offers three specifications \u2013 namely, the Xs and Xr equipment levels \u2013 which include two transmissions and one engine option.<\/p>\n

The Urban Cruiser has been one of Toyota’s most popular cars in South Africa, frequently featuring on the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa)’s best-selling list.<\/p>\n

In March 2023 alone, the Urban Cruiser sold 269 units \u2013 Toyota’s 5th best-selling car after the Hilux, Corolla Cross, Fortuner, and Starlet.<\/p>\n

The Urban Cruiser was produced in partnership with Suzuki and will compete with the recently launched Suzuki Grand Vitara<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Toyota has yet to announce when the new Urban Cruiser will hit the showroom floors in South Africa, but the release of its pricing and features likely mean its launch is imminent.<\/p>\n

Features<\/strong><\/p>\n

The entry-level Xs will come with smart entry door handles, push-button start, bi-halogen headlamps with LED daytime running lights, automatic air conditioning, a urethane multifunction steering wheel, a reverse camera with rear parking sensors, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto playing through two speakers.<\/p>\n

This includes driver and passenger airbags, ABS with brake-force distribution, and hill-assist control as standard.<\/p>\n

Upgrading to the Xr brings black roof rails, cruise control, additional controls on the steering wheel, four speakers, four additional airbags, and the ability to paint the body in a two-tone colour scheme.<\/p>\n

Performance\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like its predecessor, the new Urban Cruisers are powered by a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol motor with an output of 77kW and 138Nm.<\/p>\n

The Xs is available with a five-speed manual shifter only, while the Xr will offer both a manual and four-speed automatic, with fuel consumption sitting at 6.1l\/100km regardless of the gearbox chosen.<\/p>\n
