{"id":6828,"date":"2012-02-28T08:06:51","date_gmt":"2012-02-28T08:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=6828"},"modified":"2012-02-28T08:16:28","modified_gmt":"2012-02-28T08:16:28","slug":"cloud-security-alliance-to-open-south-african-chapter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/cloud-hosting\/6828\/cloud-security-alliance-to-open-south-african-chapter\/","title":{"rendered":"Cloud Security Alliance to open South African chapter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Online security risk management firm, Magix Security, says it is to spearhead an initiative to launch a South African chapter of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).<\/p>\n<p>The CSA is a member-driven organisation, tasked with promoting the development and use of best practices that result in the secure adoption of cloud computing solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The alliance already has chapters in North and South America, Europe and Asia, but a chapter has not yet been registered on the African continent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is unfortunate as promoting secure cloud solutions is important for infrastructure- and skills-challenged African businesses,\u201d said Philip Gerber, MD of Magix Security.<\/p>\n<p>The alliance provides members with the opportunity to meet, discuss and learn about the realities of secure cloud solutions from vendors and, most importantly, from each other.<br \/>\n\u201cTrial and error is not an acceptable implementation strategy for cloud security,\u201d noted Gerber.<\/p>\n<p>The MD says the long-term goal will be to have chapters in the major centres in South Africa, which will eventually link up with other chapters as they are launched in other countries on the continent.
