{"id":685615,"date":"2023-05-05T15:02:44","date_gmt":"2023-05-05T13:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=685615"},"modified":"2023-05-05T15:05:08","modified_gmt":"2023-05-05T13:05:08","slug":"weekend-load-shedding-at-high-stages-heres-the-new-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/685615\/weekend-load-shedding-at-high-stages-heres-the-new-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekend load shedding at high stages &#8211; here&#8217;s the new schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Power utility Eskom says that load shedding will continue at high stages this coming weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Due to lower weekend demand and the return to service of some generating units, load shedding will range between stage 3 and stage 4 over the weekend, book-ended by stage 5 on Friday and Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 4 load shedding will continue until 16h00 on Friday, thereafter it will escalate to stage 5 overnight. Stage 3 load shedding will kick in the morning, and then the schedule will alternate between stage 3 and stage 4 over the daytime and evening sessions, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 4 load shedding will persist on Monday, moving to stage 5 in the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom will publish a further update as soon as any significant changes occur.<\/p>\n<p>The full schedule is 17,245MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 4,468MW.<\/p>\n<p>Since yesterday morning, a generating unit each at Hendrina, Lethabo and Tutuka power stations have returned to service.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past 24 hours a generation unit each at Camden, Kendal, Majuba, and two generating units at Duvha power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the delay in returning units to service at Arnot, Camden, Hendrina, Kendal and Matla power stations continue to add to the current capacity
