[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesslive.co.za\/bd\/national\/2023-05-11-ramaphosa-denies-knowledge-of-senior-politicians-allegedly-involved-in-eskom-corruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Day<\/a>]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ramaphosa backs power ships: <\/strong>Ramaphosa says emergency power is required to address the energy crisis, such as &#8216;power ships.&#8217; Answering questions in the National Assembly, Ramaphosa said that South Africa should use power ships during the construction of renewable energy resources. Turkish company Karpowership, a supplier of power ships,\u00a0 has been named a preferred bidder by the energy department but still awaits environmental approvals. Anonymous whistle-blowers have alleged that Ndlovu accepted a R100,000 bribe from Qatar Airways in December 2022. Chairperson of the interim board, Tim Harris, said that the organisation would continue to support Ndlovu and believes that she followed due process when accepting an invitation from Qatar Airways. The miner, which disposed of its South African assets in 2020, said that it will have a UK corporate domicile with a primary listing on the New York Stock Exchange. The company said it would still, however, hold secondary listings on the JSE and A2X Markets as well as the Ghana Stock Exchange. Investor sentiment was dampened amid the probable worsening of load shedding during winter. TreasuryONE added that the rand&#8217;s downward momentum was linked to a major sale of South African bonds worth approximately R7 billion. On Friday (12 March), the rand was trading at R19.16\/$, R20.94\/\u20ac, and R24.00\/\u00a3. Brent crude is trading at $74.48 a barrel.
