WhatsApp says its users will soon be able to edit their sent messages.<\/p>\n
The Meta-Owned company said that the change would allow users to correct simple spelling errors or add extra content to a message.<\/p>\n
Although users have had the ability to delete messages and add emoji reactions, users have not been able to edit messages.<\/p>\n
To edit the message,\u00a0 a user will need to do a long-press on a sent message and select ‘edit’ from the menu.<\/p>\n
However, the ability to edit a message will only be available for 15 minutes after a message is sent.<\/p>\n
Edited messages will display an ‘edited’ icon, letting the receiver know about the correction.<\/p>\n
An edit history will not be available, so old messages will not be viewable on the platform.<\/p>\n
WhatsApp said that the edits would be fully protected by end-to-end encryption, just like normal messages, media and calls.<\/p>\n
The new feature has started to roll out globally and will be available to all users in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n
