The price of 93 Octane petrol will be increasing by 2c from 1 October 2014 – but there is some good news, too.<\/p>\n
For drivers who use 95 Octane fuel, the price will be decreasing by 5 cents, the department of energy announced, while both grades of Diesel will see a drop of 13 cents.<\/p>\n
Illuminating paraffin will drop 14 cents, the department said.<\/p>\n
According tot he Central Energy Fund, the main factors contributing to the decrease in most fuel categories is due to international prices decreasing over the review period.<\/p>\n
However, the Rand\/US Dollar exchange has also weakened significantly in recent weeks, which increased the contribution to the basic fuels price – explaining the slight increase in 93 octane fuel.<\/p>\n
The average Rand\/US Dollar exchange rate for the period – 29 August 2014 to 25 September 2014 – was R10.91 compared to R10.68 during the previous period, the CEF said.<\/p>\n
