44-hour water outage hitting Joburg next week &#8211; all areas affected"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Johannesburg Water says that the postponed 44-hour water outage will now be hitting next week, and a large number of areas in the city will be affected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shutdown was previously meant to start on 20 June; however, Johannesburg Water said that it requested a postponement in order to provide relief to areas that had been experiencing water supply challenges in the preceding weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The planned shutdown will now occur from <strong>19h00 on Tuesday, 11 July 2023 to 15h00 on Thursday, 13 July 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The planned shutdown is designed to complete a tie-in between the A19 and B14 with a new pipeline, install isolation valves, and upgrade Rand Water&#8217;s Eikenhof pump station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following reservoirs will be affected: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Meredale 1 &amp; 2<br>\u2022 Waterval 1 &amp; 2<br>\u2022 Weltevreden<br>\u2022 Roodepoort<br>\u2022 Foresthill 1, 2 &amp; 3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johannesburg Water&#8217;s Yeoville reservoir will also be affected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the Rand Water shutdown, Johannesburg Water infrastructure supplied by the Eikenhof pump station will receive no water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Areas that are supplied directly by Rand Water will also be affected by the shutdown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johannesburg Water said that the full recovery of the system may take<strong> five days or longer after supply has been restored.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, strategic locations, such as hospitals, clinics, schools, municipal offices, police stations and shopping centres, will receive alternative water supply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following 138 areas within the city will be impacted by the water outage:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>46 areas in Roodepoort\/Randburg:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul
